Julia Hinton Piano Teacher

07756 622184

I am a graduate of the Leningrad Conservatoire and have taught the piano for 32 years. My pupils range in age from 4 to 70 and although I do not usually teach adults, there are a small number that I teach during the daytime, so if you have the time why not give it a try. If you are a first timer or returning to the piano later in life you will get the same high quality teaching.

My lessons are not intended to be fun, but enjoyable and understandable. I teach the piano to ABRSM Diploma level and the drive for my pupils to succeed does mean that I expect a high level of concentration and a wish to learn and progress quickly, so we can avoid the clash with GCSE's and A levels as the pupil gets into their mid teens. I enter my pupils for grading exams between 2 and 3 times a year. Even for grades 6 to 8 this has been possible with the right attitude from the pupil and good parental backup.

I teach a large number of pupils, so available space is very limited, but I am always happy to take new pupils if there is space available. While I try to allow for all abilities, not everybody can cope with the piano being taught at higher levels, so not everyone will progress to grade 6 or above, it is entirely governed by your ability.

My pupils are entered into music festivals and competitions where they have the opportunity to experience the pressures of performing to a live audience and may also win a prize.
